GEORGE AFTIAS TO LAGARD: SUPPORT SOCIETY, RENTALS AND BUSINESSES WITH CHEAP MONEY!
ND MEP George Aftias asked the President of the European Central Bank, Christine Lagarde, to support families in acquiring housing through low-interest loans. He pointed out that the ECB must approach the everyday lives of European citizens more closely with cheap money and a reduction in interest rates, so that households and businesses can breathe financially.
Ms. Lagarde spoke before the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs of the European Parliament, of which the Greek MEP is a member.
In addition, G. Aftias emphasized to Ms. Lagarde stressed the need to support young entrepreneurship with low-interest loans and immediate support measures. Finally, she made it clear that it is urgent to reduce interest rates, as the gap between lending and deposits is huge and therefore its regulation is imperative.
Ms. Lagarde, responding to G. Aftias, admitted the problem, exactly as the Greek MEP had raised it and stressed that “the course of interest rates will be downward”.
