Η Αμοργός είναι κυκλαδίτικο νησί του Αιγαίου πελάγους. Πήρε το όνομά της από το φυτό αμοργίς, ένα είδος λιναριού από το οποίο φτιάχνονταν οι «άλικοι αμοργίδες», χιτώνες της Αμοργού. Βρίσκεται στο νοτιοανατολικό άκρο των Κυκλάδων, νοτιοανατολικά της Νάξου και σε απόσταση 136 ναυτικών μιλίων από τον Πειραιά.
Η παραλία της Αγίας Άννας με το ομώνυμο εκκλησάκι πάνω από τον κολπίσκο της, είναι ίσως η διασημότερη παραλία του νησιού, καθώς εκεί γυρίστηκαν σκηνές από μέρος της ταινίας «Απέραντο Γαλάζιο» “The big blue” του Λικ Μπεσόν με πρωταγωνιστή τον γνωστό ηθοποιό Ζαν Ρενό. Βρίσκεται μόλις τρία χιλιόμετρα από τη Χώρα της Αμοργού, και μόλις ενάμισι από το μοναστήρι της Παναγίας Χοζοβιώτισσας. Σήμα κατατεθέν της παραλίας είναι τα καθαρά κρυστάλλινα γαλαζοπράσινα νερά τα οποία σε συνδυασμό με τη βραχώδη περιοχή και τα πράσινα περιβόλια επάνω από την ακτή, συνθέτουν τη λεγόμενη «άγρια ομορφιά» του τοπίου. Κατεβαίνοντας (προς τα αριστερά σας) θα συναντήσετε το μικρό εκκλησάκι, όπου ενίοτε επιλεγόταν για γάμους και βαφτίσια ακόμη και από ξένους τουρίστες του νησιού. Έπειτα θα προσεγγίσετε την παραλία η οποία είναι βραχώδης με χοντρό και λεπτό βοτσαλάκι.

Όσοι κολυμπήσουν στα βαθιά νερά της, θα αντικρίσουν έπειτα από ένα σημείο, μέρος του Μοναστηριού να ορθώνεται ψηλά αντίκρυ τους στα αριστερά. Για όσους αντέχουν το περπάτημα πριν την πρώτη βουτιά στη θάλασσα, υπάρχουν κρυφά μονοπατάκια που περνάνε ανάμεσα από τα βράχια και προσφέρουν λιγότερο θορυβώδεις στιγμές χαλάρωσης και ενίοτε σκιά. Η παραλία είναι μικρής έκτασης με ελάχιστες στάσεις δροσιάς ανάμεσα στα βράχια, ενώ οι καλύτερες ώρες να την επισκεφθείτε είναι οι πρωινές ή οι πρώτες απογευματινές, καθώς το μεσημέρι υπάρχει αρκετός συνωστισμός. Η χρήση αντηλιακού συστήνεται. Απέχει 3 χιλιόμετρα από τη Χώρα.

Amorgos is a Cycladic island in the Aegean Sea. It took its name from the amorgis plant, a type of flax from which the “aliki amorgides”, tunics of Amorgos, were made. It is located at the southeastern end of the Cyclades, southeast of Naxos and at a distance of 136 nautical miles from Piraeus.
The beach of Agia Anna with the chapel of the same name above its cove, is probably the most famous beach of the island, as scenes from part of the film “The Big Blue” by Luc Besson starring the well-known actor Jean Reno were filmed there . It is located just three kilometers from the town of Amorgos, and just one and a half from the monastery of Panagia Hozoviotissa. The trademark of the beach is the clear crystal blue-green waters which, combined with the rocky area and the green orchards above the coast, make up the so-called “wild beauty” of the landscape. Going down (to your left) you will come across the small church, where it was sometimes chosen for weddings and baptisms even by foreign tourists of the island. Then you will approach the beach which is rocky with coarse and fine pebbles.

Those who swim in its deep waters will, after a point, see part of the Monastery standing tall in front of them on the left. For those who can stand the walk before the first dip in the sea, there are hidden paths that pass between the rocks and offer less noisy moments of relaxation and sometimes shade. The beach is of a small area with minimal cooling stops between the rocks, while the best times to visit it are in the morning or early afternoon, as there is quite a lot of crowding at noon. The use of sunscreen is recommended. It is 3 kilometers from Chora.
