Petsas for vaccination: I bet the staff shield in tourism

A message to the citizens that there is a window of optimism as from April onwards the vaccinations will increase with the entry of other companies, sent the Deputy Minister of Interior, Stelios Petsas, speaking on SKAI TV and Giorgos Avtias.

Regarding the publication of “Kathimerini” which states that after the vulnerable groups and those over 60, professional sectors from tourism or catering may be vaccinated, Mr. Petsas stressed that the proposals are made by the Committee of Specialists and the National Vaccination Committee directs the process.

“It is a bet for our country to have the staff dealing with tourism as shielded as possible. I do not know what the National Vaccination Committee will decide at the moment, in this area which is mentioned in the article (of Kathimerini). What I do know is that it is very important to start vaccinating with the vaccines of other companies in order to be able to vaccinate people in tourism to invite our visitors and to “recover” the great loss of revenue that we had last year. due to the pandemic. “But we will see this in the coming weeks,” said the deputy interior minister.

Vasilakopoulos: There is no fair way of vaccination

For his part, speaking on the same show, the professor of Pulmonology and Intensive Care of EKPA, Theodoros Vasilakopoulos stressed that there is no fair way to vaccinate citizens.

85% of the deaths, he stressed, concern those over 65 years old and the rest in the age range between 40 and 64 years old. “So we have to vaccinate vulnerable groups at these ages first. “The 25-year-old waiter may get sick but he is not in serious danger,” the professor explained.

He added, however, that fortunately for the tourism sector there is still time and until then we will have at our disposal for example the Johnson & Johnson vaccine which is unique.

“So we do not push all the teams at the same time for everyone. “First, those who have underlying diseases”, stressed Mr. Vasilakopoulos.
