Biden tells Erdogan his behavior will no longer be accepted by the US and the EU on human rights, says Professor of Economic Geography and Geopolitical Theory
Professor of Economic Geography and Geopolitical Theory, Ioannis Mazis, analyzed at Open and Faye Mavragani the move of US President Joe Biden to recognize the Armenian genocide and what it means for the Pontian genocide.
Mr. Mazis noted that the American president kept his promise and this has two dimensions: “He can start a process of arrests as he did with Nazi and compensation. “This is what Turkey was afraid of.”
The second aspect of this recognition concerns Turkey’s attitude towards human rights. “Biden tells Erdogan that his behavior will no longer be accepted by the US and the EU on human rights issues. “So if Erdogan continues, he will be shocked,” said Mr. Mazis.
“Armenians fought for a century to recognize the genocide and they succeeded. We whispered something about the Pontian genocide against Andreas Papandreou and did not continue because we are bothering our neighbor. “Now the ground is suitable for us to restore it”, the professor underlined.

Regarding the Summit, Mr. Mazis said that he sees a meeting Erdogan – Mitsotaki, something that the Greek Prime Minister has already stated that it will happen soon, but stressed that we must wait to see what stance Turkey will take in the five-party.
