The ruble is coming for the Greek real estate market

The purchase of residential and tourist real estate in 2021 awaits the activation of buyers from Russia, after a year of recession due to a pandemic, which limited the 3rd largest reservoir of real estate in the country.

According to the statistics of the “golden visa” program launched in 2014, Russian individuals obtained 880 licenses against 23,785 licenses obtained from non-EU citizens, climbing to third place behind Chinese and Turkish nationals.

Real estate market players estimate that the long distance that separates investors from Russia, Ukraine and the wider region in Greek real estate, is due in large part to the low penetration of Greek brokers in this market.

In this context, the Greek-Russian real estate exhibition INGREECE is organized on April 19-25, which will be held online by MIPIF & Event Property.

According to the head of the upcoming exhibition and broker, Mrs. Roula Rouva, the Russian interest in obtaining a Golden Visa is what stimulates the real estate market in Greece. According to her, both the intention and the transactions that are ultimately carried out are growing rapidly, opening up significant opportunities for the domestic real estate market.

The trend has already been recorded in previous international exhibitions of MIPIF, in which the real estate office of Ms. Rouva (which is based in Corfu) has participated.

According to statistics from the Russian market in previous events, 44% of those interested are looking for apartments in urban centers, 36% are interested in hotel infrastructure and there is a 5% who are interested in buying entire islands.
